The Foundation of the Soviet Union

The Soviet Union was found in 1917 by Vladimir Lenin, a man who supported communism and would change the history of the world forever. When the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics took over the nation, they overthrew the Tsarist Russian Empire and started a revolution, there were many strikes, and the people wanted to get the current ruler at the time, Nicholas II out of the picture. On March 8, 1917, Nicholas II sent troops out to Petrograd (St. Petersburg) to restore order, but it was too late. Because the government resigned and the Duma, which supported the army, called on the emperor to abdicate. Once Lenin rose to power he overhauled many facets of the nation. When he made the whole country, they signed a peace treaty with Germany. By 1922 the Soviet Union was an official country and was up and running.
