The economy of the Soviet Union were based on state ownership of the means of production, collective farming and industrial manufacturing. Even though the education of women and better childcare helped, the USSR was still unequal between men and women. Russia’s Soviet era was distinguished not by economic growth or human development, but by the use of economy to build national power. The economic plan of the Soviet Union was collectivization of agriculture and the expansion of heavy industry like fuel extraction, energy generation, and steel production. Because of the struggle in the USSRs economy, the Soviet Union fell in 1991.
